Employability

Employability

CEiS use innovative methods to create new projects, while supporting existing projects to add value to local area delivery. Locally adapted to fit local needs, CEiS understands that every community and strategic approach may be different; we have a proven track record in delivering to a strategic context.

Community Employment

CEiS delivers a unique employability model developed by our subsidiary company CEiS Ayrshire, based in Irvine, Saltcoats and Ayr. Our “Community Employment Service” is a comprehensive and integrated employability and skills development service for jobseekers and those looking for training and further education opportunities. Our service covers the entire spectrum from the recently unemployed to those distant from the labour market, with a range of overlapping and person centred services. CEiS is working with a range of partners in Scotland to replicate our approac h and use our experience to produce meaningful employment outcomes for a range of communities.

The Community Employment Service includes:

Community Engagement

  • Engaging with local people, helping identify barriers they may be facing when seeking to take up employment or training opportunities and assisting people to address these barriers in their journey towards employment. We work with people in their own areas and link closely with a host of other support services in the area to address specific problems.

Employability Support

  • Advice, guidance and support to access employment opportunities, addressing skills needs and organising training to address those needs. Help to identify and arrange suitable training, accessing courses, discussing employment goals and practical help and guidance in applying for jobs—CV prep, application forms, interview skills, writing application letters, etc.
  • Funding to help overcome some of the financial barriers to accessing employment or training opportunities—travel costs, equipment, training costs, medical and registrations fees, etc.
  • An income maximisation service which can give in-work/benefit advice and guidance, information on “better-off” calculations, tax credits, etc and the financial changes which are likely to take place when moving from benefits to paid employment.

Skills Development

  • A skills and employability service which provides a wide range of training opportunities, tailored to mirror the demands in the local job market and to increase the “employability” of our clients to meet these demands. These training courses are delivered locally in our own dedicated training rooms and at no cost to participants.

Work Experience

  • Transitional employment opportunities project, providing up to six months paid employment, in an area of work clients would like to access. This is backed up by training to meet the demands in the workplace, tailored to suit both employee and employer.
  • Direct links to other transitional employment opportunities provided by partner organisations as well as linking to voluntary positions.

Employer Liaison Service

  • A direct link to local employers, using our Employer Liaison / Shop for Jobs service to recruit the staff they need. This provides job opportunities across a wide and diverse range of employment sectors and a direct link to other wage subsidised jobs.
  • Employer support when recruiting, link to employer subsidies, health and safety assessment, anticipating training needs and eliminating advertising costs.

MCMC Provision

  • An employability/training service for 16 to 18 year olds, targeted at addressing the specific needs of this age group in their journey towards further education, training and ultimately employment.

Specialisterne

    Specialisterne logo

  • CEiS will facilitate the replication of the successful Danish social enterprise, Specialisterne, in Scotland, in order to create employment for people with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). We will develop an Enabling Centre model for application with other groups of individuals that are severely disadvantaged in the labour market.
